Things To Consider When Purchasing…
[amazon box=”B01CS3JJ5I”]
Before you buy the Honeywell Contempo Series Portable Air Conditioner, you’ll want to consider a few things. Here is a list of some things to consider and ask yourself.
- How big of a space do I need to cool? Consider how much space you need cooled down. If you need a large amount of space cooled down, you’ll want a fan with a lot of BTUs (British Thermal Units). The Honeywell Contempo Series Portable Air Conditioner has 14000 BTUs, which is considered a lot. It is designed to cool rooms 550 to 700 square feet. If you are looking for something that will cool only a small amount of space (such as an office), the Arctic Air portable air conditioner may be better.
- How much noise can I handle? The Honeywell Contempo Series Portable Air Conditioner is not the most quiet air conditioner. If you are wanting something that is going to be quiet enough so that you can hear TV or have a conversation, you may want to try a different air conditioner. Although customers said it wasn’t too loud, they did comment that it was much louder than what they expected.
- Where do I plan on putting it? Decide where you will put your air conditioner. It is recommended to put it by a window so that you can use the included window kit and exhaust hose.
- Do I need a portable air conditioner for the car? This portable air conditioner is going to be too large for a car. You’ll need something smaller than this product.
Who Should Buy This Product
Are you needing some relief from the hot, summer heat? You may find that the Honeywell Contempo Series Portable Air Conditioner is exactly what you are looking for. Made to cool rooms up to 700 square feet, this is a great portable air conditioner for larger rooms. It has wheels which help make it easier to move this air conditioner from room to room.
Are you wanting to avoid the chore of changing buckets of water? No worries! This portable air conditioner is made to evaporate the water so that you don’t have to change buckets. The only time you’d need to empty a bucket is if there was high humidity. Cleaning this air conditioner is fairly easy as well. Simply take out the filters and wash it under a faucet. This portable air conditioner features two filters that protect the air conditioner from hair and dust. This helps prolong the lifespan of your air conditioner.
Who Shouldn’t Buy This Product
If you are looking for a quiet air conditioner, this may not be exactly what you’re looking for. While it isn’t so loud that you can’t hear people or television around you, it is still rather loud for people who want to easily hear a conversation or TV.
If you are on a tight budget, this product may not be for you either. It has a rather expensive price. Keep in mind that it has a lot of BTUs and it cools a large amount of space, but if you are on a tight budget you may want something a little smaller for a cheaper price. Also, if you are wanting a portable air conditioner for the car, this will not be what you are looking for. The Honeywell Contempo Series Portable Air Conditioner is very large, and it is heavy to carry. You’ll want something smaller and perhaps made specifically for a car.

Social Proof From Amazon
I’ve scoured the internet looking for customer feedback for the Honeywell Contempo Series Portable Air Conditioner. I’ll share some of what I found on Amazon here:
“My family and I are less than a month away from moving from the generally cool weather of Minnesota to the much hotter climate of Texas. Since we are transitioning from a house to an apartment, I don’t want to fully trust the swiftness of maintenance should our air-conditioner be down for any given time; especially since we’re looking at July and August. This is why I jumped on the Honeywell Portable Air Conditioner; I not only wanted a backup, but a complement to the apartment complex’s cooling system should it prove to be on the weak side. Especially since I can use it for a fan and dehumidifier as well. To me, this unit has several uses.
Other people may be interested in this if they own a cabin or have a room or area in a house that just doesn’t seem to cool down. Whatever the reason, the portability of this system is its greatest asset. But, know that the portability also comes with a few foibles. For instance, it’s heavy. Really heavy. When UPS delivered it to my front door, I struggled to move it by myself. Even a sticker on the side of the box said, “Team lift.” Meaning, you need two people to move it. I did manage to get it in my house myself by walking it up one step at a time, but not without much heaving and several pauses. Since I’m a 6’ tall man, I can see others having an even harder time.
So consider this when having it shipped; you may need a strong friend or family member to lend you a hand…Overall, this is a good solution for my situation. Keep in mind the unit is very heavy and takes up more floor space than you may expect. Also be sure you have a sliding window or the window bracket won’t work, which means there would be no good way to vent out the heat it produces.”
“Finally a portable (sort of) AC unit that chills! Yes, I have been through several. They always last about a year or two, and then quit cooling. Some have leaked water, even though they were supposed to be self-evaporating. Others just didn’t have the cooling power advertised. This unit rocks.”
“We’ve had this unit about 2 months and so far, its working very well. We use it in a slightly larger space than it says it covers but it works amazingly well. It cools quickly, the fan is powerful, it’s moderately noisy, sounds like a fan. It looks like a large piece of luggage so it makes for a good conversation piece. We live in an area that gets all western facing sun so we get blasted all day with heat. If its 80 outside it has historically been 95 inside, in previous years we have baked. This has saved us this summer. What a relief. Now, I hope it stands the test of time for years to come because it’s expensive!”
