Yo Bro, Thanks For Being You
OMG guys! Finally, I have less than a year until I get married to my best friend and I am so excited! We just got our engagement photos done this week Soon we will be sending out our “save the date” cards. We can finally start the planning process so I can start doing more blog posts so you all can follow along with our journey!
But today, I wanna talk to my big bro!
I wanted to start by pointing out this picture.. man, how cool were we?
Anyway, I can only imagine your face as you read this, you’re probably sitting around jamming out to the new Bieber album, obviously.
Growing up I’m pretty sure I never told you I look up to you. Mostly because we never really got along haha. I was just the annoying little sister, always trying to hang out with you and your friends. I hated you back then and I’m pretty sure you felt the same way about me, although you adored me when I was a baby ( probably because I couldn’t talk yet). What other reason would there be for you dressing up in a “scream” costume to chase me around the house with a fake knife? Oh and that time you learned to play the Michael Myers theme song on your guitar then hid in my room to play it while I was alone. What about all of those times you would freak out when it was 2pm and I was being “too loud” while you were sleeping the day away. Let’s not forget all the times I’d call Mom just to tell her you were being a jerk. The list goes on and on.
Well, there were the good times too! Remember our matching Barney pajamas, or when we tried to create a way to communicate at night by knocking on the wall. What about the whole “hydrate” debacle, don’t even get me started on that one.
I remember Mom always saying “I can’t stand being around you two, you are either fighting or annoyingly getting along.”
Truth be told
I have a secret to let you in on…I have always looked up to you and I always will. As the years went on and we got older, our relationship got stronger and I’m so thankful for that.
I honestly don’t know what I would do without you. Having a big brother like you is the best thing in the world, yet the biggest struggle ?. You’re my protector, as much as you act like you don’t care at times, we both know you do.
I’m sure me finding the perfect guy means a lot to you. A guy who will treat me with respect, but at the same time a guy you can be friends with. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to see you and Dan getting along. Whether you are bonding over some Star Wars game you both play or talking about our dogs, any interaction you two have means the world to me.
I’m sure no matter who I was dating it would take you a while to warm up to them. But I want you to know how in love with this man I am. It’s been a rough road, but all the past mistakes that we’ve made, are in the past for a reason. This man, oh this man, he treats me like a queen and if he could he would give me the world. I promise you that.
Over the years people change and they grow, I mean just take our relationship for example. Dan is the perfect man for me and I have known this since the very first date, I knew in my heart that this guy was different. No matter what hurdles have been thrown at us, we have grown and learned from them.
Your opinion means a lot to me, it always has. I want you to be able to see what I see in Dan. The person that he is, that he has become and just how much he truly loves me.
No matter where we are in life, our hearts have always called to each other. You should understand this, because you and your wife have had a long journey as well with a lot of ups and downs.
In reality our relationships are very similar. You have known Dan for the last 7 years, but let me tell you a little bit more about what this man does for me.
He ALWAYS opens the car door. He never fails to tell me how beautiful I am. He always ends the night with a back rub, and he will do anything to make sure I am happy.
When I catch him staring at me, and I ask why, his response is always “I’m just in awe of your beauty, and I’m happy you’re mine”
He puts me above everything else in life. He shows me every single day how devoted he is to me. He is the greatest thing to happen to me.
As my wedding day approaches
I want you to know just how much you really mean to me, big bro.
So I’ll start by saying thank you.
Thank you for helping me learn to appreciate life. You live with such passion and don’t care about the opinions of anyone else.
Thank you for showing me the importance of laughter. I can’t remember a time when you weren’t making me and everyone around you smile. You’ve shown me the importance of optimism and laughter. Our relationship has turned into a friendship rather then just “brother and sister.”
I mean I can’t think of a time over the past few years that we weren’t having a blast when we are together.
Thank you for thinking you’re a walking WebMD simply because I find it humorous and like to make fun of you for it.
Lastly, thank you for turning into one of my best friends.
We’re so photogenic
You’re little sis is growing up and I’m gonna be a married woman soon. Although you always act like you don’t care, I’m sure you’re feeling some emotions about it. Know that nothing can change our relationship. You will always be one of my top guys, and my go to.
Thank you for being you, I can’t wait to have you be apart of my big day and I will always be your little “monkey.”
