Some common ones include marshmallow root, blessed thistle, and brewer's yeast. What makes this recipe great is the fact that it takes some of the most well known galactagogues and incorporates them into a yummy cookie. The oatmeal and chocolate chip in this tasty cookie offset any displeasing taste. Try this recipe out to get your milk production up in no time.
- 2 sticks (1 cup) butter, room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons ground flaxseed
- 1/3 cup brewer’s yeast
- 2 tablespoons almond butter (you can put in peanut butter or leave it out altogether)
- 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Then take two baking sheets and line them with parchment paper. While your oven is preheating, take a bowl and mix together the butter, the brown sugar, and the granulated sugar, you will want to mix until everything is light and fluffy. Next, beat in the eggs. And finally, add in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, you will want to whisk together the salt, flour, baking powder, brewer's yeast, and flaxseed. Once this is all sifted together, add this mixture to the mixing bowl and beat until everything is combined.
Next, you will want to add almond butter and oatmeal to your mixture. Finally, add in the chocolate chips and gently whisk all the ingredients together until everything is nicely combined. Be sure not to overmix.
Once you have your dough ready, you can start taking drops of 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of dough and lining them on your baking sheet. You will want to bake your lactation cookies for about 10 to 12 minutes or until they are golden brown.
As your cookies bake, they will pop up a little. If you prefer having skinnier cookies, then press down on them before you begin baking them. This will ensure that they will not pop up. For any unbaked cookie dough, you can store it in the freezer for up to 3 months.
2. Coconut and Dark Chocolate Lactation Cookies
This next lactation cookie recipe is perfect for coconut lovers. And if chocolate is too sweet for you naturally, then you will love the fact that dark chocolate is used instead in this great recipe. What makes these lactation cookies so great is the fact that unlike traditional lactation cookies, these dark chocolate and coconut lactation cookies are quite tasty. To get this recipe going, here is what you will need.
- 3 cups Old Fashioned Oats
- 1 1/2 cups Flour
- 5 Tbsp Brewers Yeast
- 1/2sp Baking Soda
- 3 Tbsp Ground Flaxseed
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 12 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, Cubed
- 4 Tbsp Virgin Coconut Oil
- 1 1/2 Cups Sugar (feel free to reduce by 1/4 cup)
- One large egg and 1 large egg yolk
- 1 Tbsp Vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet or Dark Chocolate Chips/Chunks
- 1/2 cup Shredded Coconut
- Optional 1/2 cup Chopped Walnuts
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. While your oven is preheating it is time to mix in your ingredients. In a big bowl, you will want to whisk together your yeast, flour, flaxseed, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, and salt. Then add in your oats and combine everything.
Using your electric mixer, you want to begin by beating the butter and coconut oil on medium speed until everything is nice and creamy. Then you will want to add in the sugar and continue beating your mixture on high speed until everything is nice and fluffy. Next, slowly add in your egg and your egg yolk.
Now let's move on to our sweet ingredients. Add in your vanilla extract and then gradually add in your dry ingredients. You want your chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts, to be well combined.
Using a small ice cream scoop or a spoon, you will want to mold your dough into 1 inch round balls. Then, place your dough balls on your baking sheet about 2 inches away from one another. Next, bake your lactation cookies for 10 to 14 minutes in the oven or until the bottoms are just a little under golden. Before you store your lactation cookies, make sure that they have cooled completely.
3. No Bake Lactation cookies
- 2 cups old-fashioned oats
- ½ cup ground or milled flaxseed
- 3 tablespoons brewer’s yeast
- 1 cup peanut butter or almond butter
- ½ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
Begin by using an electric mixer and add all the ingredients in except for the chocolate chips. Mix all your ingredients at a low-speed until your mixture is well combined. Then, you may add in your chocolate chip morsels.
Once everything is nicely combined, you want to take about a two tablespoon scoop and roll it into a nice and small smooth ball. Using a baking sheet or parchment paper, line your balls about one inch away from one another. Then, place your baking sheet in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. If you are really in a hurry to try them, you can take a bite out of it right away as well. After your no-bake lactation cookies have set in the freezer, you can take them out and store them in a sealed bag.
What makes this recipe so great is that you can virtually add anything to it as well. If you would prefer to add dried fruit instead of the walnuts you can do that as well! If you feel you need a little more chocolate, then we won't judge you either.
