8 Tips for Not Feeling Gross on the Long Honeymoon Flight

You will be radiant on your wedding day. Your hair? Perfectly bobby pinned in place. Your skin? Glowing with freshness. Your makeup? Exactly how you wanted to a T. You are prepared and ready to go for your special day. Not to mention your smile is lighting up your pretty face!

The wedding is everything you had hoped and dreamed of. Your guests were wonderful, the photo session was dreamy, the food was excellent, your groom was perfect, and now you are ready for a good night’s sleep. Because tomorrow, you take off for your honeymoon destination!

But trust me, sitting on a plane for hours on end is not only tiresome and boring, but you feel gross halfway through. Your hair is greasy from leaning your head back and sleeping, your breath is absolutely awful, your once prepared makeup is now all over your face, and you are just overall a mess. So why not avoid this problem? Read on for some useful tips for staying fresh on your long honeymoon flight.

1. Keep your skin moisturized.

It can be as easy as going into that tiny and squishy airplane bathroom and throwing some water on your face to freshen it up a bit. If you use a skin exfoliating cream or a face wash, make sure you use it before you leave for the airport. And then once you are on the plane, have a moisturizer that contains ultra-hydrating hyaluronic acid. It is best to have your face damp before you put on the moisturizer, so come prepared with face wipes or ask for a damp cloth.

2. Avoid head rest hair?!?

In the same way there is such a thing as hat hair, there is a thing called head rest hair. When you fall asleep with your head leaning back on the headrest, and you stay in that position for a long time, your hair will eventually become flattened. To avoid this, wear your hair up in a messy bun or a loose ponytail or braid, along with bringing a neck pillow. So not only will your head be more relaxed and comfortable, but you have a higher chance of avoiding tricky hair.

3. Stay hydrated and drink lots of water.

Pay close attention to the “drink lots of water” part of that phrase. It does not say to consume lots of alcohol or soda on the flight. In order to sleep well, look refreshed, and not feel bloated and gross after getting off the plane, you have to drink like it. If you absolutely need some kind of flavor, then bring coconut water or other flavored water that could make staying hydrated a little more enjoyable.

4. Eat healthy snacks!

Nuts, fruit snacks, trail mix, fruit, and vegetables are all great options to pack for snacks when it comes to snacking. Avoid packing chips, crackers, sweets, and other greasy treats that will make you feel gross after eating them. When it comes to meals, be wise with what you eat and do not go overboard. Airplane food is not always the best either.

5. Go for the eye cream.

Get rid of the bags or circles under your eyes. If you do not use a cream, start using one before you leave for the trip. This is a wise idea so your skin is used to the cream before you leave, and will give your eyes the small glow they will need after a long flight.

6. Do not wait for the cracked lips!

Have your favorite lip accent with you, as well as a tube of chapstick. You do not want dry and cracked lips wen you enter in to the airport of your destination, and you do not want to have to make your groom kiss untreated lips as well. So reapply every so often during the flight to keep your lips perfect!

7. Bring along the essentials.

Bring a small bag of your favorite items, as well as some emergency products in case of trouble. This can go in the backpack or purse you are taking with you on the plane and will be easily accessible during the flight!

8. Get lots and lots of sleep!

I know it is hard to sleep on a flight, especially if the turbulence is crazy. Bring noise cancelling headphones and a sleeping/spa mask to cover your eyes if necessary (and a neck pillow, right?). Do not go overboard, but do not watch movies straight for six hours either. Be smart!
