As of this writing, the Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby has 223 customer reviews and 26 answered questions on Amazon. I've read through the reviews and answered questions to get a feel for the pros and cons of this bouncer. I've condensed the results into this report. I hope that this makes it easier for you when picking out a baby bouncer.
It doesn't seem like the durability is too good on this baby bouncer. There were many complaints by parents that said they threw it away because the toys easily broke off.
There were a lot of complaints about the toys being too hard and also breaking off. Here is one of the many complaints about the toys,
"The toys should be made of silicone or something soft so that children can't be injured. My son tries to chew on them and several times has slipped at just the right angle that the toys busted his gums. Bouncing while trying to chew on a stationary toy is dangerous. I complained to the company, but they never responded so I threw it away. Spend a little more money and get one that suspends your baby from above so they can bounce off the floor. They work much better anyway!"
The platform was also something that parents had some negative reviews about. Here is one,
"not a bouncer at all, the green foot platform that your child's feet will stand on is adjustable to three different heights by way of elastic rope, the use of elastic rope gives a tiny bit of spring to the platform but not much at all. The child seat is a fixed height. It can freely spin 360 degrees. Because the seat is set to a fixed height, the baby cannot actually bounce. It's more like he/she can stand and sit in it (I wouldn't call this bouncing)."
Some parents liked that the toys were not electronic.
Ease of Installation
The customer reviews indicate that this was not an easy bouncer to put together. It took a lot of time and had many parts. The following two comments and ones like it kept surfacing again and again.
"Very complicated to put together."
"Took about 1 hour to put together."
If you are not wanting to spend a lot of time putting a baby bouncer together, this probably is not a good choice.
This bouncer weighs 11 pounds and has dimensions of 27 x 27 x 33 inches. The size was not a problem with parents. Here is one of the comments on size,
"Also, it is a great size. It’s not too bulky. I can easily carry it from room to room. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is considering the purchase."
I was reading some reviews from parents that said this bouncer easily tipped over. Also, several reviews stated that the toys fell apart easily. I'd buy with caution and if you do buy this bouncer, and make sure to keep an eye on your baby while he or she is in it. Here is just one of the reviews that said a baby had fallen over in it,
"This thing is so dangerous. My daughter is 14lbs and this morning it lost balance and she fell completely over and landed on her head and face. Now I am writing to warn others."
You might want to make sure that your child wears shoes if you purchase this bouncer. The leg edges were reported to be rough. Here is one comment that is worth reading,
"We received this product as a gift. Our 6-month old daughter loves it. However, the insides of the plastic legs are unfinished. She has cut her toes on the rough edges, and bled on the platform. Because of this, I would not recommend this product. If you already have it, I've found covering the rough spots with tape helps. I would also keep shoes or socks on your baby whenever they are in it."
The price is low for this bouncer. Some people were happy about the low price. However, others were disappointed and responded that you get what you pay for. Here is a sampling of price comments that represented many other comments,
" I don't like that the pad to bounce on isn't adjustable, but it works for the price."
"It works ok. The baby isn't super fond of it. It feels a little cheap, but for the price it isn't a bad buy."
Parents were semi-satisfied with this bouncer. Many realized that the price was low and commented that you get what you pay for. However, be aware that there were a lot of complaints on the cheapness of the toys and how they broke off. There were also cautions left in the reviews about the platform not being a bouncer and comments about the legs being too sharp on little toes.
If you do purchase this bouncer, make sure to supervise your child at all times and be aware that the toys are fairly cheap and may break off. There were also reports of this bouncer falling over with a baby in it. So supervise closely at all times, if you choose to buy the Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby. I hope that my review helps you as you look towards purchasing the best baby bouncer for your child.
