Most Talked About Features:
As of this writing, The Granite Ware 19-Inch Covered Oval Roaster had 1,157 customer comments and 140 answered questions on Amazon. I’ve read through the feedback and then condensed the results into this review. I hope that this helps you when picking out a roasting pan.
Includes a Lid!
So many really nice roasters do not include a lid. The Granite Ware 19-Inch Covered Oval Roaster does include a lid and people couldn’t be happier about that. A lid is going to naturally do the basting and you won’t have to put aluminum foil on top of your turkey or roast. A lid is definitely an asset and a necessity when I do cooking in my home. A lot of customers commented positively that this roaster had a lid.
Holds Up Well In High Heat
People who bought and used this roaster testified that it held up to prolonged cooking at 500 degrees without any show of wear and tear. There was no warping or flaking off of material as has happened in some of the higher end roasters that I’ve reviewed. Really, I can’t see why people spend so much more when this roaster can do a great job with just about any oven cooking project. The Granite Ware 19-Inch Covered Oval Roaster has held up to the test without being pricey.
Size
This roaster with lid measures 19 inches with an interior length of 16 inches. The interior width is 12 inches which means it can hold a 14 to 19 pound turkey. Some customers did question if this pan could actually hold this large of a turkey as some found 13 pounds was the limit. It could hold a 14 plus pounder for some, but they also commented that the lid didn’t fit securely with a 14 pound turkey.
Works Well On Stovetop Too
This roaster performed well for making gravy on the stovetop as well as cooking turkeys and roasts in the oven. Simply place the roaster over the burners on the stovetop and boil or simmer sauces and gravy.
Durable
The Granite Ware 19-Inch Covered Oval Roaster is one durable roaster. With many of the more expensive roasters that I’ve evaluated, they were fragile as far as having finishes coming off. But with this roaster, you can scrub to clean and also cook how you like without having to treat it delicately. One customer said this,
“I vigorously used a metal whisk in the pan as I was making my gravy. I honesty didn’t know how it would hold up to that and I expected some minor scratches and scrapes, but I’m happy to report there was absolutely no damage taken! It wipes clean easily and is dishwasher safe. I honestly couldn’t ask for much more!”
Lightweight
This roaster is one of the lightest roasters that I’ve reviewed. It is lightweight without sacrificing durability. If you have issues with lifting heavy roasters out of your oven, or maybe you just don’t want to lift a heavy roaster out of your oven, then this roaster is a good choice. Weighing in at only 3.55 pounds, it won’t add on much weight to your food that is cooking in it.

My Conclusion
The Granite Ware 19-Inch Covered Oval Roaster is one of my favorite roasters on the market. I like it because it is durable, includes a lid, and works better than some of the high end roasters on the market. It is dishwasher safe and also can be washed by hand without having to take extra care to not wear off finishes and coatings. It can be used to not only roast, but also can be used over the stovetop for gravy and sauce cooking. This roaster is one of the most popular roasters on the market. I highly recommend the Granite Ware 19-Inch Covered Oval Roaster.
