Although a wedding is about a bride and groom, coming together in holy matrimony and finally tying the knot, there are still other parts and people that should be celebrated. Celebrations like dancing, eating together in fellowship, and giving words of wisdom to the new married lovers. People like friends that have supported you through everything, family that have helped with the wedding, parents who have raised you to be the person you are today, and your guests that took the time to come celebrate you and your honey.
There are many ways to make your guests feel appreciated. Although countless thank yous throughout the nice is by far one of the best gestures, having fun things for your guests to do will make them feel appreciated, and make them feel like they are truly involved in being a part of your special day.
There are unique and fun ways to make your day interactive for your special guests that are attending your wedding. If you love some of these ideas, but want to put your own creative twist on things, then by all means, do so!
1. Wedding Mad Libs
Mad libs are so much fun and pass so much time! For that awkward time that is in between the ceremony and the reception, why not leave these on your guest’s tables to play around with? Or you can have them at a separate table with a jar for words of wisdom or advice for the newlyweds. Either way, Mad Libs are a comic relief and will loosen your guests up for the rest of the night.
2. The Classic Photo Booth
Ah, the classic photo booth. This has become a must have at weddings in the past few years, and for good reasoning it should have! This is a fun way for your guests capture a few memories with other attendees on your big day, and is something that everyone can enjoy! Whether it be couples, adults, or kids. Including props is a good route to go so you can give your guests more options and fun, crazy ways to take photos!
3. Outdoor Wedding? Include Lawn Games!
If you are having an outdoor ceremony and reception, yard games are a necessity, no question! Whether it be a game you loved playing in your own backyard as a child, or something that you love to play at picnics and barbecues with your other half, incorporate them! You could include croquet, corn hole, horseshoes, and hopscotch or jump ropes for the kids! Whatever you choose, your guests will love it!
4. Make a Card for the Bride and Groom for the Kids
This is a great way to keep the younger ones occupied during the cocktail hour and that in between time. Have a blank card and a set of crayons for each child that will be there! You could have them all at a basket near the reception entrance, or you could have them at every kid place setting for easy access for the parents! Either you, you and your groom-to-be will be sure to get a kick out of what the kids make for you! It may bring some happy tears as well!
5. Hashtagging, Instagramming, Facebooking, the Whole Sha-Bang
More than likely, your friends and family will capture more photos than the photographer will. Especially Grandma. So for your friends that are with the times and have Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, create a hashtag and encourage them to share their photos with you (Need help creating a Hashtag? Click here!). Let them know that them sharing their photos mean the world, and that you are excited to see what everyone does to enjoy the day!
6. Have a Sendoff That Ends Things With a Bang
Sendoffs are one of the most fun parts of a wedding! The bride and groom are pumped about leaving for their honeymoon, and it is the last goodbye the will have on their special day! So having a sendoff that makes your guests feel excited to say goodbye, whether it be paper lanterns like Tangled, fun and crazy sparklers, or unique like throwing lavender, have something that make your guests feel excited to embark on this new journey with you, with them by your side!
