The well known assumption that getting a c-section requires way less effort then physically pushing a baby out of your vagina is, to put it nicely, COMPLETE BULL! This is exactly the point a mother from Springfield, MO is trying to get across to the world. Raye Lee made a post on Facebook showing the world her “battle scar” from bringing her precious child into this world.
Her goal is to let EVERYONE know that c-sections are not easy, and they are not the easy way out.
“‘Oh. A c-section? So you didn’t actually give birth,” she wrote. “It must have been nice to take the easy way out like that’,” Lee writes. “It’s shocking that anyone would actually think to say those words.”
Did you know that one in three women have to delivery through a cesarian section? And this isn’t a simple procedure, it is a serious abdominal surgery that requires a much longer recovery time then a vaginal brith. It isn’t easy taking care of a newborn baby after having major surgery.
She also stated in her Facebook post that she was in labor for over 38 hours and then panic set in when she was told her baby was going into distress. She was rushed to the operating room and had her baby surgically cut out of her…. What about that sounds easy?!
“I now belong to a badass tribe of mamas with the scar to prove that I had a baby cut out of me and lived to tell the tale,” she said.
Reasons people have a C-Section
- A medical condition such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or kidney disease.
- Infections such as genital herpes/warts, HIV
- Your babies health
- A large baby, sometimes the baby is just too big to fit through the birth canal.
- Your age
- Your weight
- Breached baby
Having a c-section can be emotionally and physically really hard on a person. Image feeling like you are less then because you didn’t physically push your child out of you. This is a case that can really upset some women who are looking forward to the experience of naturally having a baby.
If you know anyone who has had a c-section, be there for them, help them through the recovery mentally and physically. Do not diminish the way they brought life into this world.
Every mama out there is a rockstar who had to endure various types of pain to bring precious life into the world, and all you c-section mamas, rock those scars!
