The Natursutten BPA Free Natural Rubber Pacifier is made from 100% natural rubber from the Hevea Brasiliensi tree. The natural rubber is softer than silicone and is made to not leave marks on your baby’s face.
This pacifier is a one piece design with no joints or cracks. This is nice so that dirt and bacteria can not find a way to accumulate. The Natursutten BPA Free Natural Rubber Pacifier is made in Italy by a family business who has been manufacturing rubber baby products for 3 generations. This natural rubber contains no BPA, nitrosamines, PVC, phthalates, chemical softeners, or artificial colorings. It conforms to the pacifier-safety requirements as determined by European standard EN1400 and CPSIA.
This company has led the way for BPA free products. It takes about 30 days to make just one Natursutten pacifier because of the curing process for natural rubber. Also, many of the steps are completed by hand. In Danish, “Natursutten” means “natural pacifier.” The company was started by Anne-Dorthe Shroeder, a Danish mom who couldn’t find healthy and natural options for pacifiers when her son was a newborn. Shroeder had this to say about the development of this pacifier,
“The media is full of stories about toxic baby gear, recalls, and harmful plastics. As a new mother, I thought about how many hours my son was going to have a pacifier in his mouth, and I was determined to find a truly safe alternative. I felt I owed that to my child and other babies around the world – to do better.”

Parent Reviews
As of this writing, the Natursutten BPA Free Natural Rubber Pacifier had 213 customer reviews and 32 answered questions. I’ve read the reviews and answers and then condensed the results into this report. I hope that this helps you in deciding if you’d like to try this pacifier.
Safety
For the topic of safety, parents commented how they felt that this natural material was safer than synthetic materials. Here is just one of the many positive safety comments,
“These are my absolute favorite! They are safe and natural which is very important to us. My teething baby used to chew on other pacifiers like MAM and the paint would chip off of the button part. I don’t have to worry about these at all!!! Only down side is when they fall they bounce!”
Price
The price is a bit higher on the Natursutten BPA Free Natural Rubber Pacifier than regular silicone pacifiers. Even despite the higher price most of the comments were that this pacifier was worth the extra money. This comment was very typical of price comments,
“My daughter loves these pacifiers. She kept breaking the silicone pacifier. These last longer and are worth the price.”
Shape
Parents liked that this pacifier came as one piece. Most also liked the shape of it. This comment was typical of other comments about the shape,
“This pacifier is one of my favorites. Love the shape and the natural rubber. And my daughter loves these, so it’s a win win.”
Size
This pacifier weighs 1.8 ounces and has a dimension of 2 x 2 x 2.5 inches. Parents liked the size of this pacifier. It’s big enough and constructed of one piece so it won’t be a choking hazard.
Ease of Cleaning
The Natursutten pacifier should be sterilized in boiling water for 5 minutes before first use and then washed with mild soap and warm water daily. The company states that, “Just like toothbrushes, pacifiers should be replaced every 6 to 8 weeks.”
Parents were positive on how easy they were to clean. I was not seeing negative comments on cleaning, only positive such as this one,
“It’s one piece, no loose parts so it’s easy to clean and safe. My daughter loves it. I recommend it!”
Material
The natural material of this pacifier had mixed reviews. I wonder if it’s just because this is a natural product, so it will have some of it’s own smell and taste to it. But, for whatever the reason, some baby’s accepted it right away while others didn’t. Here is what one mom had to say about the material,
“The shape and the fact that it’s natural always made me feel better about this pacifier. My baby tried so many others and hated them…until we gave him the Natursutten! Love at first taste.”
Another had this to say,
“I’m happy to report that our experience has been great with it. I’m actually back on this page to buy them again. We inspected the pacifiers (we got two) and boiled them when they arrived per the instructions. My daughter did make a face the first time she smelled it–it smells like natural rubber–but she took to it fine. We have used two of these pacifiers for 4+ months now, which is why I’m replacing them. (The instructions cover this.) My daughter is now 13 months and still uses the pacifiers during naps and overnight. I couldn’t be happier that she has something natural, non-leaching in her mouth that isn’t changing the shape of her palate.”
On a negative note, some didn’t like the natural material. One parent commented this,
“I bought this after a co-worker’s recommendation. I was interested in the natural rubber and the natural shape. It arrived just like the pictures but after multiple attempts, my son still won’t take it. I don’t know if its the smell or taste, or because it’s shaped similar to the NUK and Chicco ones that he does like.” And another said, “So cute! Well made but my child refuses to take it, I understand why, I tried it and after about 3 seconds it tastes like a rubber balloon! My son is not picky about bottles or other pacifiers but is not having this one!
My Conclusion
For the parents that don’t want plastics and unnatural products in their babys’ mouths, the Natursutten BPA Free Natural Rubber Pacifier seems like the way to go. Although most liked this natural pacifier, some did comment that it had a taste that their babies refused. Perhaps it’s all in what they are used to and get used to. The price is a bit higher than silicone pacifiers, but most health conscious parents didn’t mind paying a little more for a natural product versus artificial product. I hope that this review helps you as you look to purchase the best pacifier for your family.
