It was made for extended use through 3 phases of child growth.  The first is the rear-facing stage that holds 5 to 40 pounds.  The second stage is the forward facing stage for 22 to 65 pounds.  The last stage is for a belt-positioning booster seat for 40 to 100 pounds.

Car seats need to pass safety tests in order to be put on the market.  The Safety 1st Grow and Go 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat has passed all of the tests.

Here is a comment from a parent who was in an accident with her child using this car seat,

“My toddler is A-OK after being in a terrible car accident (car is totaled.) I T-boned a girl who took a left in front of me and I couldn’t get the car really even slowed down before it happened. Probably a 45mph crash and he was perfect afterwards! So glad he is ok, and very thankful for this carseat. I will be replacing the seat with the same model (for those that are unaware, anytime your car is in an accident, the car seats should be replaced).”

Because the main purpose of a car seat is to keep your little one safe, I wanted to quote another parent who was in an accident with her child,

“I am stopped at a stop sign when *BAM* a truck smashes into our tiny hybrid HARD and I mean HARD – it’s been determined the driver was going between 30 to 45 miles per hour… and I was completely STOPPED. I jarred both of my legs into the floor, bruised my shoulder area (where the buckle was), and had some pretty serious whiplash. My daughter (rear facing in this car seat) SLEPT through the crash and sustained no injuries…not a single bruise, not a hair out of place. I find that impressive. Safety 1st, did just that – kept my most precious “cargo” safe. To say I recommend this car seat would be an understatement.”

Comfort

This seat has a lot of padding.  Padding means extra comfort for your little one.  Some children really despise riding in a car seat, especially the ones who are on the go and don’t like being strapped down.  Of all the parent reviews that I read, comfort was on the high end of the list of why they liked this car seat.

Portability

The great thing about this car seat is that this is the only car seat you will ever need for your child.  It will be good from infancy to 100 pounds.  But, the bad thing is that you can’t remove the car seat to put in your grocery shopping cart like you typically can with other infant car seats.

The question was asked on Amazon, as to what to do with your little baby when trying to shop.  It was suggested to look into body pack systems instead.  So, think about what’s more important to you.  Is being able to easily carry an infant seat around when your child is little, super important? Or is having one car seat for their entire childhood more important?

Price

The price of this car seat may seem a little high.   But, keep in mind that this is the only car seat that you will need for your child. It will work from infancy to 100 pounds.  It will also go from an infant seat all the way to a booster seat.  So with that being said, this car seat is right about in the middle on pricing.

Ease of Installation

The parent reviews reflected that this has car seat is very easy to install.  One customer had this to say, “This seat is super easy to install and super easy to adjust.  I’m happy with my purchase.”

Ease of Cleaning

The Safety 1st Grow and Go 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat has material that easily snaps off and on for when you want to remove it for cleaning.  The material parts can be machine washed and also dried, or washed by hand.

My Conclusion

If you are looking for a convertible car seat that will adjust to your child’s growing size, then this car seat should be considered.  The price is right about in the middle for what you will pay for a convertible car seat.  Keep in mind when comparing prices, that you will not need to purchase another car seat.  This car seat will be good for 5 to 100 pounds.  The parent reviews were good.  I can’t see where you could go wrong if you choose this car seat.
