When Kinsey French started planning her wedding with her soon to be husband Josh, she knew there were a few people that just HAD to be included in the ceremony. As a special education teacher, and she wanted all of her students to be a part of her big day! Not just guests at the wedding, but actually in the ceremony as ring bearers and flower girls!
French provides speech and occupational therapy to a group of students with Down syndrome at Christian Academy’s Rock Creek campus in Louisville, Kentucky, and her students just love her! Over the course of the year, she grew an incredible bond with each and every child. So when it came time to pick who was in the wedding, we entire class was a no brainer!
“They were like family to me,” French said. “They were my first class and they’ve been my only class and so I knew I couldn’t have a special day without them.”
Obviously, when they started to make their way down the aisle, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience!
The students said they absolutely loved being included in the wedding their favorite part of the day was dancing! They loved doing the Dab and the Whip and Nae-Nae.
For this couple having Kinsey’s students with her on her big day was the only thing that was needed to make their special day complete. The students were actually there when Josh proposed so it was really only fitting!
It’s every parents dream for their children to enjoy going to school and to get along with their teachers. The bond that French has created with these children is really beyond anything else!
“It was really special for Josh and myself just to have them a part of the day, and have them come with us and celebrate with us,” French said.
