Stress and weddings seem to go hand in hand when it comes down to it. There seems to be no question about where the stress comes from, but there are also ways to make the best of the situation and relieve some stress while planning for your big day. So how can you lessen the stress in your life while wedding planning without spending a fortune on therapy (retail or actual therapy)?

Make Realistic Goals

If you make realistic goals and write them down, you will be more likely to keep them and make your goals. Don’t make outrageous goals that will create more stress for you. Remember, the goal is to make your stress lesser rather than greater, so keep your goals realistic!

Form a Mantra

My favorite mantra that I heard most of my life (including that awkward period in middle school), was “This too shall pass”. Make a mantra that fits you and your wedding planning stress! Forming a mantra can make you feel less overwhelmed when you feel like your would is crashing down. Just breath and repeat your mantra to yourself. It will be ok.

Be Mindful of Your Health

If you aren’t feeling well, take a break. If you need a nap, take a nap! Don’t over do the work that needs done because the outcome will be lesser than if you were well rested. Your health is very important, of both your body and mind!

Keep a Journal

Your journal doesn’t have to be a journal for just your wedding. You can use this journal to write your thoughts, ideas, and feelings. This is a great place to write your goals and what you spend for your wedding!

Delegate

Don’t take on all the dirty work yourself. Be sure to have a list of things that other people can do for you for your big day! Don’t bite off more than you can chew. But if you do, delegate!!! Delegation will become your best friend, I promise!

Budget

Make a budget. Make a budget and keep it. Your budget is something that will be your best friend and your worst enemy. You will want to pull your hair out when you can’t find what you want in your price range and you will be super thankful when you have money leftover from your budget!

Don’t Forget You Fiancé

Whatever you do, do not forget about your fiancé. The reason you are planning a wedding is because of him! Don’t forget to go on dates and treat him well! AND… You can ask for his help on certain things. If he has handyman skill, he can probably build it! Not only can this save money, but you can spend time together too!

You must take care of yourself always, think of yourself like a car… If you don’t put gas in the car, it won’t get very far. So if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t get very far. You must be mindful of what you need. Just because you are wedding planning does not mean that you have to be stressed out! Lessen your stress with these tips and happy planning!
