This by far has to be the hardest post I’ve done so far. Writing a letter to you is not easy. There are so many things to say and so many emotions filling through me; gratitude, admiration, love and respect. I hope I can be a woman like you someday.
You are the woman that raised the man that I get to spend the rest of my life with. You brought him into this world and you shaped him into the kind hearted, selfless, man that he is today. Without you, I wouldn’t have the man of my dreams, and I can’t tell you enough what you mean to me because of that, and many other things.
In one year I get to walk down the aisle to one of the most amazing people I have ever met, your son. How do I thank you for all that you’ve done?
I’m sure the thought of the woman he would end up with has crossed your mind several times over the years as Dan started to get older. You might have wondered if she would ever be good enough for him. I mean, you’re his mother, I’m sure secretly no one will ever be good enough, but I hope over the years I can show you how much love I have for him and how amazing we really are for one another.
Know that I understand the bond between a man and his mother. When he was young and growing up, you were the most beautiful woman in the world to him, you were the first woman to have his heart, and I will never replace you.
I admire you in every way and I look up to you. It takes an extraordinary woman to raise such an amazing man. I truly believe he is the man I am meant to spend the rest of my life with. And although we have had our fair share of ups and downs, I believe that every bump in the road was God helping us to better ourselves so that we could get to where we are today.
No matter where we were or who we were with, our hearts always pulled towards each other. I never stopped loving or caring about him, just as he never stopped loving and caring about me.
I know I have a lot to live up to, but I promise to devote the rest of my life to loving your son the way he deserves to be loved. I have never been so excited to change my last name, and I am so honored to be an Evans and to call you my family.
Thank you to you and Mr. Evans for being the perfect example of what true love looks like. For raising Dan to respect women and for giving him his love of the outdoors. For never missing a soccer game, and always cheering him on. That really left an impact on him, he talks about it all the time. Thank you for accepting me and not holding past mistakes against either one of us. Thank you for being an essential part to our story and our future. Seeing the love and the bond you have with Matteo and Julian makes me so excited to watch you with our children one day and just how much I know they will adore you.

Thank you for being the reason I smile everyday, because knowing I get to wake up next to Dan is such a blessing. He is respectful, honest, witty, and caring and I know these are all the qualities that came from you.
Thank you for my one of a kind love, because without you, my “happily ever after” wouldn’t exist. For all that you have done, and continue to do, I will always appreciate you.
In one year you will be my mother-in-law and I can only hope to be the “third daughter” that you deserve, and the wife that Dan needs.
