Not only is this roaster made for roasting food in the oven, but it is ideal for stovetop cooking too.  Simply place it over the flames on your stovetop for cooking gravy and sauces.  Stainless steel can handle the direct flames touching the bottom.  The thickness of the pan will aid in not letting your food burn, though depending on what you are making and how high you are cooking it, you may need to continue to stir it.

My Conclusion

The stainless steel material is the main selling point  on this quality roaster.  

You can put it in the dishwasher or wash this roaster by hand.  The Viking 3-Ply Stainless Steel Roasting Pan with Nonstick Rack can withstand high heat both in the oven and if you choose to use it on the stovetop for sauce and gravy.
