These Wedding Veil Alternatives Will Make You Throw Away Tradition!

Whether you are a traditional bride or a cunning bride who wants to leave tradition behind in the past, there can be some hesitation, or even confusion, when it comes to deciding on what to put in your hair for your special day. Do you wear the traditional veil, with either a long or short train? Or do you totally forgo the veil idea and do something completely different?

If you are considering doing something a little different, than these wedding veil alternatives may be just what you are looking for! If you are still on the edge and want a wedding veil, still give these ideas a look over. You may end up loving them and changing your mind!

1. Flowers

Flowers, whether big or small, can be the perfect accent for wedding hair! You can pin small ones all throughout your hair or pulled back bun, or just two on the side as shown in the picture above. You could even have your florist save two or three extra flowers specifically for your hair, in order to match perfectly!

2. Floral Crown

If you want the natural look with flowers, but want a little more flair than just a few small pieces pinned back in your hair, then having a flower crown is a great alternative! You can either make one yourself (click here for a DIY on flower crowns) or have one ordered ahead of time if you are not the crafty type! This is a great look for Bohemian brides, vintage themed brides who want an old time feel, or even a classic wedding type bride that gives tradition the jazz it needs!

3. Hair Bands

Simple, but elegant, hair bands will give your hair the simplicity aspect that you may be wanting, but will also give it enough “oomph!” to grab the attention of your guests. Hair bands are great for pulled back hair or braided buns, but can also be a great accent for long and flowing hair.

4. Head Pieces

These could technically be named hair bands (if we want to get technical), but are just a bit bigger and more attention grabbing, hence the name hair pieces. If you want something more than just a simple headband, but like the idea, then a hair piece is just for you! If you are a bling lover, there are plenty of hair pieces out there coated in jewels that will meet your extravagant taste! If you are a vintage bride who loves her lace, there are also plenty of lace head piece options.

5. Hair Combs

If you like the simplicity of wedding hair bands, but do not want something that goes fully around your head, then hair combs are another popular option! You can get these as blingy or simple as you want, and they go great with both updos and down hairstyles! If you want a fairly cheap and affordable option, that you could even use again in the future (depending on what you choose), then a hair comb is the way to go!

6. Wedding Tiaras

Are you a Cinderella bride who wants her dream, fairy tale princess wedding? Then a tiara is in store for you! You can either “go big or go home” with a larger tiara that takes up the majority of your hair, or a smaller tiara that is not as attention grabbing. Whatever you choose, your prince is sure to love your royal hair!

7. Birdcages

This is the perfect option for the traditional bride that still wants to keep her wedding classy, but wants to make it unique without a veil! Bird cages will give your wedding hair the timeless accent it needs. Whether you go with a bigger bird cage or a smaller size, your guests will most definitely “ooh!” and “ah!” as you glide down the aisle with this classy feature.
