Dear Mom, Mommy, The Best Mom Around,
Today is the day. I officially go from being your little girl into becoming the woman I have always dreamt to be. One as ferociously tender and swooningly beautiful as you! It came to be my turn to start my own family. As this thought gripped my senses it dawned to me that I am following in your footsteps. So, what better opportunity I would have, than this one, to write you a letter from the bottom of my heart.
Our relationship is special. The bond that we share as daughter-mother is one of a kind. You have made me the woman that I am now. Writing these words to you I can only feel the wave of gratitude that overcomes me. Where did the time fly by? I am in awe of what I have accomplished all these years and all it has been made true only through you and with you.
For the last days, weeks, my mind has been reeling. I have thought back to all the things that you brought into my life. You have taught me resilience and persistence. You have taught me how to love and hope. You have shown me the sweet light of compassion, but also the darkest side, the sourness of loss and regret. You guided me on my journey towards finding balance in this chaotic world. Your embrace has taught me how to love and why should I love the child inside me.
I am so grateful for everything that you’ve done for me. I know that I don’t say it enough, I know that sometimes I lose track of time and forget to call. I also know that I’ve made you feel forgotten or overlooked, but mom, life is so weird and difficult sometimes. There is no day that passes by in which I am not thinking about you. How you had been able to go through so much and still be able to raise me. I am so grateful for you being in my life, for being here today, on my wedding day.
More than that, I am so blessed by all that you’ve done for me up to this big day. For coming to all my sporting events, dance competitions, club meetings, and performances. Thank you for being there.
Thank you for letting me cry on your shoulder when life became too much. Thank you for giving me the space when I was too upset to mutter one word or think in a straight line. You understood me when no one else seemed capable to.
Thank you for telling me to listen to my heart. Thank you for loving the man that I have chosen and accepting him into our family. It meant the world to me. This wedding seems more holly because it has been blessed by your acceptance. As you know, it is hard to say no to you.
I am so grateful for being blessed with you, mom. You have always been the strongest person that I’ve known, and I hope that I can be half the woman that you are.
I know that even though I’ll be on my own with my husband, I’ll still be able to call you with all the questions I’ll have. You are my rock. I know that I can call you when I don’t know how to manage ….life. In those moments when it feels like the sky would fall on me, or the ground would open up to swallow me whole. You are my heroine. The one and only Wonder Woman able to fly over oceans and continents to pull me from whatever mess I have gotten myself into.
I want you to know that today isn’t just my day. It’s your day too. Because you have raised me into the woman, I am today, the woman who is loved by an incredible man. Thank you for all that you do and everything that you are. I hope you always know that I’ll never be too old to be your little baby girl.
Love you forever,
Your daughter
