14 Reasons To Look Forward To Fall Right Now

Because fall is bigger than pumpkin spice lattes.

I know, I know, summer is still in full swing, and many of you are trying to fit in those last couple of weekends at the beach, soak in the sun, and wear sun dresses. But, for many of us out there, we are ready for the best season of the year, autumn. Soon the time is coming where we shed our shorts and tank tops for cozy sweaters and steaming cups of coffee. So are you prepared? If you’re still not excited, here are some reasons to start looking forward to fall.

1.Two words. Sweater Weather

fall

I know that sweaters might not be everyone’s favorite article of clothing, but they’re wrong. There is nothing more rewarding than donning a sweater or cardigan on that first crisp fall day where you still don’t need to wear a jacket. The leaves falling all around you, and the noise of your brown boots clicking on the sidewalk. Ahhhh, heaven. So don’t despair, soon enough you’ll be breaking out your favorite sweaters, cardigans, long sleeve tees, and more.

2.The Outdoors

fall

I truly feel sorry for the people who don’t live in a climate where they can properly enjoy fall. There is nothing like having the leaves gently falling in your yard and spreading their color like mini-quilts.

3.Pumpkin, Pumpkin, and more Pumpkin

fall

We are just a few short weeks away from Starbucks gracing us with their pumpkin spice latte once more. But besides as a drink, fall is a great time to eat other amazing pumpkin treats, such as pies, cupcakes, cookies, and candy. Make sure that you store up for the long winter and summer ahead.

4.Blanket Scarves

fall

Also, just scarves in general. Scarves are a great way to accentuate any outfit and are often too thick to pair with summer fashion. But in the fall, you can wrap an entire blanket around your neck and call it a fashion statement. For tips on how to tie blanket scarves, check out the article here.

5. Campfires

fall

Yes, campfires are normally associated with summer, but, on those particularly hot days, you can’t always enjoy a fire. The months of September and October are perfect for snuggling up with some friends, a warm fire, and some s’mores around the fire.

6. Flannels

fall

Is there anything more exciting than wearing your flannel for the first time every fall? For men and women alike, the flannel has become the staple of fall fashion. I suggest buying men’s flannels for an even cozier fall look. Don’t forget to add a pair of leggings and boots to round out the outfit.

7. Working Out

fall

I know that there might be many of you out there that enjoy the heat and running in the heat, but that is not for me. One of my favorite parts of the fall is that I can run outside again. I don’t have to worry about being too hot or cold. Plus, it’s an excellent way to explore the scenery around your town or on a trail. Don’t be afraid to try out other workout ideas outside, such as walking, biking, and core work.

8. Boots Return

fall

Though it’s entirely appropriate to wear boots in the summer, we often don’t because they can be too cumbersome and made of the wrong material. But once it hits September, boots start to come out overnight. It’s a great feeling to pull out those worn out long socks for the occasion.

9.  Good TV

fall

The summer of reruns and bad reality TV is officially over come fall. New TV shows premiere on our favorite stations, old favorites return, and we get to see who Shonda Rhimes kills off next in Grey’s Anatomy.

10. Football Season

fall

I have to admit, I am not a huge football girl, but I am a huge fan of buffalo chicken dip and pizza.  It’s exciting to start rooting for your favorite teams once again or going to a football game at a big ten University. Nothing beats those Friday night lights.

11. Apples Are So Good

fall

If you’ve been gnawing on pathetic summer apples for the last couple of weeks, you know what I’m talking about. There is nothing like going apple-picking at your local apple orchard those first few weeks in fall. The apples are fresh, new, and full of promise. Plus, it could be a perfect time to dig up grandma’s old apple pie recipe.

12. Food In General

fall

I’ve hit on a couple of food groups above, but fall food is just better all around. Everything is homestyle, hearty, and delicious. It’s the time of year where soups are put on the table every night, bread isn’t an option, and everything is filled with extra meat and cheese. There is nothing quite like eating that first homemade chicken noodle soup on a rainy fall day.

13. Halloween

fall

Halloween is a holiday that has only become more popular as years have gone by. So maybe you don’t like being scared, but maybe you love watching the kids trick or treat or dressing up for a costume party. On the other hand, you might love going to a haunted house and watching your favorite scary movie for the 100th time. Either way, there are plenty of activities around Halloween that everyone can enjoy.

14. Fall Activities

fall

I’m talking about hay rides, corn mazes, apple bobbing, and carving pumpkins. There are so many fun things you can do with friends or family members. The beautiful weather only helps to increase the joy of your activities.

I hope that if you are already mourning the end of summer, that you realize that there are so many perks of having fall just around the corner. Have a favorite fall memory? Share it with us below!
