We’ve all heard the old wives tale before, that seeing the bride before you get married on your wedding day is bad luck. And don’t even think about seeing her in her wedding dress before she walks down the aisle. Over the years people have stuck to this tradition like glue, while some have tested it. So what do you think? Do you think you should be able to see your husband-to-be before you get married? We have the pros and cons that you might want to consider.
Pros
1. It Helps Nerves
I knew a bride once who opted to take her pictures before the wedding, which is common practice nowadays because she knew she would be too nervous if she saw him for the first time in the church. If you are someone who struggles with your nerves, this might not be a bad option.
2. It’s Private
Everyone loves to look at the groom’s face when the bride saunters down the aisle, but what if he doesn’t have the reaction you are hoping for? Or, do you just want that first time your husband lays eyes on you for you and you alone. This intimate moment might be just what you need, instead of trying to have it with hundreds of eyes trained on you.
3. He Doesn’t Have To See You
By that, I mean that there are ways you can see your husband-to-be without seeing him. Plenty of couples blind fold each other and pray, hold hands from behind closed doors, or just embrace blindfolded.
4. Pictures
Like I stated above, it is quite common to get pictures before your wedding, so you don’t have to make your guests wait for the reception to start. It might not be a bad idea to take pictures before the wedding when you both look your best.
Cons
1. It Could Be Bad Luck
Now, not literally, but if you have it in your mind that it will be bad luck, there is no point in stressing yourself out.
2. It Could Take Away Time From Your Girls
Getting ready with your bridesmaids, mom, and other female family members is an extraordinary time. You want to make sure that you have time to forge those memories.
3. Tick Tock
You never know how long your hair and makeup are going to take. If you are running late, or just behind, you might miss out on being able to see your future spouse. People don’t want to wait for your wedding to begin because you had to see each other first.
4. It Takes The Fun Away
Doesn’t a big part of you want to see your husband’s face for the first time when you waltz down the aisle? Don’t you want him to have the impact of seeing your beauty along with everyone else? This could add to the fun and suspense of your wedding, but only you can decide if that is going to upset you too much or take away from your wedding day.
Regardless of what you choose, your big day is about you and your future husband. Don’t let anyone else run the show. If you want to see him in all his glory before you say, I do, you have that power. Do you think you should see him or not see him before? Leave your opinion below.
