What Other People Are Saying
As of this writing there were 915 customer comments and 38 answered questions for The First Years Take and Toss Spill-Proof Sippy Cup. I’ve read through the customer feedback and then condensed the results into this review. I hope that this helps you when shopping for sippy cups.
Very Basic Sippy Cup. No Bells and Whistles
This is the most basic of all Sippy Cups. You will get the cup and a lid with a spout. Because it comes in a 4 pack, you can use these for lots of things and even misplace some. Here is what one parent commented about them,
“These cups are pretty standard. We own the straw cups also. Didn’t give a 5 star rating as they aren’t over the top. My son pulled off the cap closure included. Overall they do their job.”
Not Leak-Proof
You will get a lid that may or may not protect the cup contents from spilling out. But some people found that the lid fell off when this cup was dropped. This is a very basic cup and not leak-proof. It should prevent most of the liquid from spilling when your child sets the cup down, but it is not going to be leak-proof.
Here is a comment from a parent in regard to the cups not being leak-proof,
“They do leak when tipped over without the cap. They also shoot water out when squeezed. I like that they stack and take up less room in the cupboard and in packing, but I can’t easily send them to daycare because they leak or the top falls off in the bag.”
See Through
These cups are translucent. That’s a nice feature since your child and you will get to see how much fluid is left in the cup. Here is a comment about the see-through feature, left by a customer,
“Great little cups, love the opaque see-through feeling and you won’t be guilty if you actually do toss them because the price cannot be beat! We just ordered some more of the First Years containers based on our super positive experience with these cups, love them!”
Colors – Mix and Match Lid Colors
With your pack of 4 cups, you will get 4 different colors. This is nice because kids like colors. And I like colors and I’m an adult. So colors are a good feature for all. You will receive 4 of the 5 colors which are red, orange, yellow, blue, and green. Some customers complained and were confused by why the cups didn’t have matching lids. It is because they are interchangeable. So you may or may not get matching cups with matching lid colors.
Here is a comment about the colors,
“My boys also really like all the different colors that come with the pack. They come with yellow, green, red, and blue cups!”
Great Price
These cups are bargain priced. You really can’t go wrong on the price for what you get. Here is one of the many positive comments about the price,
“The best thing about these is the price. Basically priced to be a disposable sippy cup. I would think they would be great for like an amusement park or something where you don’t have easy access to rinse or wash and you want to carry a few and not worry if you decide to trash it. They do stack together nicely.”
No BPA, PVC, or Phthalates
Your child can drink safely without you worrying about harmful chemicals leaching into the drink. The First Years Take and Toss Spill-Proof Sippy Cups are BPA, PVC, and Phthalate Free.

My Conclusion
The First Years Take and Toss Spill-Proof Sippy Cup Set is a very basic sippy cup set of 4. You will get 4 of the 5 colors which are red, blue, yellow, orange, or green. The lids may or may not make complete color coded sets. They are supposed to be interchangeable lids. These cups may cut down on some spillage but they are not leak-proof. If your child drops one of these cups, there is a good chance that the lid will come off and spill liquid all over the place. However, for the price and for what you get, these cups are a great bargain. I hope that my review of the First Years Take and Toss Spill-Proof Sippy Cup can help you decide if it the right sippy cup for your family!
